This procedure sure sounds like a mouthful, doesn’t it? A lipoabdominoplasty is a combo procedure that incorporates a tummy tuck and liposuction together into just one surgery. Instead of having two separate surgeries, when a surgeon performs a lipoabdominoplasty, he or she performs the liposuction and tummy tuck during one operation. The result is two-for-one enhancement with less downtime and risk associated with general anesthesia.

Sometimes when our surgeons are performing a tummy tuck in Los Angeles, they’ll use liposuction to give that extra bit of enhancement that a tummy tuck (which mainly treats sagging skin and loose muscles on the abdomen) alone just can’t achieve. By slimming and sculpting the abdomen with liposuction, our surgeons can target just the right areas on the stomach to maximize results… or can treat other areas of the body to provide for more complete rejuvenation.

Also, adding liposuction really doesn’t take up too much more time during surgery, and is actually better than doing the procedures in two separate stages. The risk with general anesthesia is highest when you are waking up and falling asleep during surgery. Even though you’re under for longer with the combined procedures, you don’t have to wake up/fall asleep twice, so that can be a pretty important safety advantage. The recovery time is also about the same with lipoabdominoplasty as with just a tummy tuck or just liposuction.

It makes sense to combine procedures since you get the same results as with two stages, it’s just safer and more convenient for you.
